Due to internal restructuring our client is seeking an experienced engineering professional t o take on the role of Mechanical Engineering Coordinator at an underground coal operation in Central Queensland.  This role is a crucial part of the site engineering team and reports directly to the Engineering Manager.      

Position Purpose & Accountabilities:

The primary purpose of this role is to safely and efficiently manage capital and operating projects across the site; incorporating underground and surface plant.  You will be responsible for coordination and delivery of these projects and ensure they meet scheduling and financial budegets & goals.  You will also be responsible for complying with site & legislative HSE policies.

The core accountabilities will include but will not be limited to:

  • Verification of engineering designs of plant and equipment.
  • Develop scopes to achieve quality overhauls, and precision equipment commissioning practices.
  • Develop scopes for the delivery and the management of major Engineering Projects.
  • Mid to Long term planning of maintenance activities.
  • Liaise with operations departments for short term (on shift) scheduling for project work
  • Ensuring project work meets statutory compliance as per the Queensland Coal Mining Act & Regulations.
  • Liaise with Engineering Superintendents, Process Engineers to ensure that maintenance issues are addressed.
  • Ensure that all work details are captured in the Pulse system via the use of work orders and the Pulse project module.
  • Ensure all equipment costs are captured against work orders.
  • Delivery and communication of reports and associated paperwork

Required Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

This position requires a consummate professional with a sound mechanical or electrical background.  The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate knowledge of underground coal mining & equipment as well as the ability to scope and manage projects successfully.  You will also be:

  • An effective & positive member of the engineering team
  • Able to lead by example
  • Demonstrating the importance of planning operations, maintaining standards and comprehensive work programs
  • Encouraging input from other members of the team
